US Womens Match Racing Championships 2009

The 2009 US Womens Match Racing Champions (USWMRC) were proudly sponsored by PredictWind and were completed in the weekend with a thrilling finish!

The event was hosted by the St. Thomas Yacht Club and sailed in Cowpet Bay, US Virgin Islands and every competitor was given a subscription of PredictWind Proffessional Forecasts for the duration of the event.


The final day was sailed in light winds with the breeze barely reaching six knots. The shifty conditions meant reading the wind was vital.

In the end Genny Tulloch pipped her US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics (USSTAG) member, Anna Tunnicliffe (Plantation, Fla.) for the victory, despite Team Tunnicliffe dominating the first few three days, losing just one match!

Tulloch was up 2-1 in the finals, requiring Tunnicliffe to win the fourth race in order to remain in the finals. However in a close finish, where both teams had found themselves just a boat length apart bearing down on the finish line. But after a smooth jibe by Tulloch, they sailed over the line first and took the glory this year.
