Forecast Tables
February 27, 2025
Forecast tables are structured marine weather forecasts that present time-based data for a chosen location or route in rows and columns. For boaters, they typically show wind speed and direction, gusts, wave height and period, rain, pressure, temperature, and other variables needed to understand expected conditions at sea.
Their value is precision: a skipper can scan each forecast hour, identify deteriorating conditions, compare Wind Speed with Wave Height, and judge whether a passage, anchorage, race, or bar crossing remains safe. Used alongside Weather Routing, tables help optimise departure times, sail selection, fuel planning, and crew readiness.
In PredictWind, forecast tables complement maps, graphs, GRIB views, and model comparisons from sources such as ECMWF, GFS, and ICON. They are especially useful when bandwidth is limited offshore, as tabular data can be read quickly and interpreted with Forecast Confidence.
