About Galway Harbour
A busy commercial port for large fishing vessels and tankers. Part of the harbour has been relegated to yachts and finger piers and pontoons have been a welcome addition. Massive expansion is planned for Galway Harbour It's not the cleanest harbour in the world as the water only leaves for a short time around slack water when the gates open, but it is one of the most interesting as it is right in the middle of the old city of Galway. Galway Harbour is always maintained at a minimum depth via a locked system. Access only for one hour before and after high tide.
