VHF Ch 12 - call Port Elizabeth Port Control once the yacht is within 1nm of the Port entrance. - yachts to keep and/or stay clear of shipping movements at all times on approaching the Port - moorings availability is on a 1st come 1st served basis. - for berthing instructions: call John Tudehope on +27 82 845 3961 john@gatewaypm.co.za / Mark Dawson at +27 76 306 4601 or Tony Bailes at +27 83 380 3777 - Important to advise of imminent arrival at least >12hours beforehand, to advise Marina Company & to identify suitable mooring(s) - should there be no moorings available, we will guide the visiting yachts onto/raft against commercial fishing boats and/or wharfs - we will make a plan. GPS coordinates: S33.58.030 E025.38.156 - The Marina is situated at the South Western corner of the port. The official UN/LOCODE of this port is ZAPLZ. Procedure for ALL yachts arriving from international waters, both foreign and local, who need to clear into South Africa All incoming international yachts and/or South African yachts returning from a foreign port must register with OSASA at www.osasa.org.za to obtain pre-arrival authorisation at least 96 hours before arrival in Gqeberha. The Pratique together with a Maritime Health Declaration form for each crew member (available on the OSASA website) together with Yellow Fever vaccination status (if applicable) will be submitted by OSASA to the relevant authorities before arrival. The crew and Skipper will NOT be permitted to leave the yacht until the Port Health and SA Police have cleared the yacht. Authorities will be advised of the arrival of all yachts. These procedures will remain in force until advised otherwise. Once cleared by Port Health, proceed to Customs and Immigration (with passports which must show 6 months validity). Please confirm you are eligible for a visa here. Port Health 041-391 8132 The entrance channel to Port Elizabeth is maintained at a depth of -14.5m Chart Datum and has a generous width of 310m. Limitations on vessels using the port are 11m draught for passenger and dry cargo vessels, 11.2m for container ships, 12.1m for ore carriers and 9.6m for tankers, all according to berthing. Deeper vessels may be accommodated with the permission of the harbour master. Tug assistance and pilotage are compulsory.
