Whitby Harbour

The dredger maintains the depths of the channels and harbours at Whitby and Scarborough. The channel depth within Whitby is maintained where possible at a depth of 1.4 metres below chart datum. Depths on private moorings are maintained where possible at the following depths – however these cannot be guaranteed due to occasional rapid silting (all depths are below chart datum): Private moorings on pontoons below Spital Bridge: 1.5 metres Eskside Wharf: 1.5 metres Endeavour Wharf: 2 metres Fish Quay: 2 metres Soundings are taken and recorded annually, with additional soundings taken as and when required.
