Ghazaouet or ''djemaa el ghazaouet'', formerly known as Nemours during French colonisation, is an Algerian town in the wilaya of Tlemcen, near the border with Morocco, located 72 km northwest of Tlemcen, 50 km north of Maghnia and 34 km as The crow flies east of the Moroccan city of Saïdia. It was the first fishing port in the country, built in 1846, in the form of a wooden pier.

The Harbour of Ghazaouet is about thirty kilometres away as the crow flies east of the border between Algeria and Morocco and 45 kilometres from the Messali El-Hadj International Airport in Tlemcen.

It is located at the bottom of a sandy cove with an opening of 1300 meters and a depth of 400 meters in the middle of which a small stream called Oued Ghazouanah emerges. The port is located at 35° 6' 00 North latitude and 1° 52' 21 West longitude.

Location: Beni Saf is situated in a bay to the W of Oran, and lies on the Mediterranean Sea coast between Cape Falcon and Cape l’Eau.
Beni Saf is an artificial harbour protected by two breakwaters, the port has a water area of 18ha. A shipping port for iron ore also considered the most active fishing port on the Algerian coast. 

The port consists of 2 jetties:

The bay of Algiers has an opening of approximately 15 kilometres, from west to east; its depth exceeds 7 kilometres.
The port, entirely artificial, covers 90 hectares. It is formed:
by a 200-meter-long pier (Khéredine pier) which joins to the mainland the islet on which the Spaniards had built the Fort du Pegnon;
by a second pier, called the North, which is rooted on this islet and runs in the direction of northwest to southeast, over a length of 900 meters; 
by the pier, called the South, which is rooted to the mainland under an old Turkish fort (fort Bab-Azoun). This pier, made up of two branches meeting at right angles, is terminated by a pier which leaves, between its end and the North pier, a pass of 250 meters.
The Port of Alger is managed and operated by Enterprise Portuaire d’ALGER (EPAL) and is coordinated by the National Corporation of Maritime Transportation and the Algerian Navigation Company.
