About Rafina Port

Rafina Port is an official port of entry in Greece. It is managed by the Rafina Port Authority SA and is classified as a port of international interest (Category K1) within the Trans-European Transport Network. This designation allows it to handle international passenger traffic, including customs and immigration procedures, particularly for travelers arriving from non-Schengen countries. Rafina Port is the second busiest passenger port in the Attica region, after Piraeus, serving approximately 2 million passengers annually. Located about 30 kilometers northeast of Athens city center and roughly 30–45 minutes from Athens International Airport, it offers a more relaxed and accessible alternative to the larger Piraeus Port. Rafina Port includes facilities for mooring pleasure boats and small vessels. The port offers berths for yachts and smaller boats, providing essential services such as water and electricity connections. However, it's important to note that Rafina Port primarily functions as a commercial ferry port, and while it accommodates smaller vessels, it may not offer the extensive amenities found in larger marinas. Ferry Destinations Rafina serves as a key gateway to several Greek islands, particularly in the Cyclades and Northeast Aegean regions. Popular destinations include: Northern Cyclades: Andros, Tinos, Mykonos Central and Southern Cyclades: Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Milos Northeast Aegean Islands: Samos, Ikaria (seasonal routes) Crete: Heraklion (seasonal, with stops at Cycladic islands) Evia: Marmari, Karystos Ferry services are more frequent during the summer months, with multiple daily departures. Port Facilities The port features a single large terminal equipped with 13 ramps for conventional ferries and 2 ramps for high-speed vessels. Amenities include: Passenger waiting areas (one indoor and two sheltered) Ticket offices and travel agencies ATMs and banking services Cafés, restaurants, and shops Municipal and private parking options The port's compact size makes it easy to navigate, and the nearby town of Rafina offers additional services and attractions, such as the hilltop church of Agios Nikolaos and Marikes Beach. Transportation to Rafina Port From Athens City Center: Intercity Bus (KTEL): Departs hourly from Pedion tou Areos near Victoria Station; approximately 1.5 hours Taxi: Around 45 minutes Car: Via Leoforos Marathonos Avenue or Attiki Odos (A6/E94) From Athens International Airport: Intercity Bus (KTEL): Departs hourly from the Arrivals Level, opposite the Sofitel Hotel; approximately 30 minutes.
