The Siikajoki Municipality maintains and manages the Tauvo Marina. The ports have landing ramps, cold water, ice machines and dry toilets. Tauvo is a popular place to visit in summer with its sand dunes and opportunities for swimming and surfing. In spring and fall, the abundance of migratory birds invites bird enthusiasts to the area. Tauvo has had a white ship port area since the 19th century, the current port was completed in 1971. In 1965, the Tauvo Bird Station was established in the village.
