About Puerto de Suances
The port of Suances is located between the beaches of Riberuca and Ribera (Port Street). Suances, also known since Roman times as PORTUS BLENDIUM, was located on the most important route of penetration of Roman Spain towards the Cantabrian coast. In the 16th and 17th centuries, fishing activity was a pillar of the economic base of the municipality. In the first half of the 20th century, Suances had fish canneries and salting factories. At the moment, the economic activity that it generates is a little since the number of fishing boats is not very numerous. Not so, recreational fishing boats, whose number is increasing and are demanding new services. The port of Suances is located between the beaches of La Riberuca and La Ribera, in the vicinity of the promenade and the area of bars and cafés, etc.
