The port of Suances is located between the beaches of Riberuca and Ribera (Port Street). Suances, also known since Roman times as PORTUS BLENDIUM, was located on the most important route of penetration of Roman Spain towards the Cantabrian coast. In the 16th and 17th centuries, fishing activity was a pillar of the economic base of the municipality. In the first half of the 20th century, Suances had fish canneries and salting factories. At the moment, the economic activity that it generates is a little since the number of fishing boats is not very numerous. Not so, recreational fishing boats, whose number is increasing and are demanding new services. The port of Suances is located between the beaches of La Riberuca and La Ribera, in the vicinity of the promenade and the area of ​​bars and cafés, etc.

The San Vicente de la Barquera estuary is located and integrated into the Oyambre Natural Park, with 5,800 ha. Its great ecological and landscape wealth is due to the fact that it encompasses five different units: the cliffs, the beaches (Merón and Oyambre stand out due to their extension and dune systems), the estuaries (San Vicente estuary), the marshes (of Pombo and Rubín) and deciduous forests. It is an arm of the sea that goes into the SW, dividing into two others, called the W as Caño del Peral, crossed by the Puente Negro and the S (the largest) as Caño de Villegas or Barcenal crossed by the Puente de Mace. The prelude to this easily identifiable estuary (Punta de la Silla Lighthouse) is made up of the sandbar, continuing to the N of the Merón sandbank, joined to the breakwater. Parallel to this to the west runs the breakwater that ends up facing the island of Peña Mayor. The ends of these breakwaters are buoyed: At high tide, the water covers the end of the breakwater wall. We will sail through the center of the channel closer to and parallel to the breakwater until we pass Peña Mayor where we have already reached the center of the channel taking the tack of Er la Punta de la Espina. In this area, the probe is between 4 and 5 m. We pass close to the Punta e la Espina (f) buoyed up with a green and white turret, and we stay up to the height of the slipway that appears to us from the bow. If we have to anchor we will fall to Br since the anchorage is located from our beam to the tack. Pay attention to the probe, the difference in depth appears suddenly. We have the pontoons of the marina at the bow. At the start, the head of the W jetty will be uprooted in order to approach from here to the N and, with sufficient shelter, set course for the destination.

Bustio, port and door of Asturias Bustio is one of the quietest fishing villages in all of Asturias. Its unique geography, on a riverside bend in the Ría de Tinamayor – the natural border between Asturias and Cantabria – gives it an air that is always peaceful, like time and space stopped, like eternal solace. Thus, in this small and quiet town guarded by mountains in the municipality of Ribadedeva, you will be surprised by the mouth of the Cares-Deva river, a natural passageway for migratory birds from Northern Europe to warmer areas during the colder months. To learn in detail about the history of the fauna and flora of this area, we recommend the Ría de Tinamayor Bird Watching and Interpretation Centre, a didactic and informative space promoted by the fishermen themselves. In addition, it has a beautiful fishing port, collected under the Cañón peak. Another interesting recommendation is that you savor a good fresh fish such as pixín (monkfish) or sargo, in any of the restaurants in Bustio, while enjoying a walk contemplating buildings of Indian architecture, such as "Villa Delfina", very close to the old iron bridge that connected Asturian and Cantabrian lands. Bustio is the easternmost gate of Asturias, and precisely because of that condition, and because of its location on the very edge of an estuary that flows into the Bay of Biscay, it has always had a strong link with the coastal Camino de Santiago. So this ancient town is not only seafaring but also Jacobean, and almost a mountaineer, because from here you can sense the winds and the high peaks of the Picos de Europa, which are just a few kilometres away. Sinuous and beautiful estuary, nearby beaches, untamed sea, hidden port, pilgrims on the Camino, and mountains all around. Bustio is a curious mix that makes it unique.
