About Ipswich Beacon Marina

Ipswich Haven Marina (now Ipswich Beacon Marina) opened in May 2000 and was officially inaugurated in July 2000 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. Located at the head of the River Orwell on Ipswich Waterfront, the marina has grown to 320 berths, including 30 dedicated visitor berths, and welcomes around 2,000 visiting yachts each year. It is set within a vibrant, regenerated waterfront area, with restaurants, cafés, shops, cultural attractions, and historic sites all within walking distance. Ipswich railway station is just a ten-minute walk away, offering direct connections to London, Cambridge, Norwich, and Harwich. The marina is run by a professional, friendly management team focused on providing a pleasant and enjoyable stay for visitors. Arriving by boat steps to follow: Contact the marina office on VHF channel 80. The lock The lock operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. To make access in and out of the marina as convenient as possible for our customers, we will always have a lock in/out at least once an hour. The Orwell Navigation Service Operator operates 24/7.
