Porto di Torre del Greco

The port of Torre del Greco consists of a breakwater wharf facing South South-East, a stretch of lava beach to the North and a stretch of wharf with a pier to the East. During the summer season, floating pontoons are placed on the breakwater for the mooring of pleasure boats. Dangers: it is dangerous to enter when the sirocco blows. Access times: from 05.00 to 20.00. Access: incoming and outgoing vessels must keep at least 70 m away from the red light at the head of the breakwater. Headlights and lights:2550 - buoy with yellow flashes, grp. 2, period 6 sec., range 4 M indicates a mussel farming area; 2550.01 - buoy with yellow flashes, period 4 sec., range 4 M, signals a mussel farming field; 2552 (E 1680) - red flashing light lasting 5 sec. range 9 M, on the end of the breakwater; 2554 (E 1681) - green flashing light, 5 sec., range 3 M, on the end of the inner breakwater. Marine bottom: the generally sandy bottom is not a good holder everywhere; somewhere under a thin layer of sand there is a bed of lava. In the outer port the fund is a good holder. Seabed: on the quay from 3.30 to 8.00 m. Radio: Vhf channel 16 - 14 (07/19). Berths:about 500 units of small and medium tonnage. Maximum length: 12 m at the pontoons, 15 m at the quay. Prohibitions: entering and leaving the port during the night is prohibited. Winds: in summer the NE dominates in the morning, light breezes or calm in the afternoon; in winter and autumn those of the II and III quadrants prevail, often stormy and accompanied by storm surges. Traversy: sirocco. Shelter: from the north. Closest safe bays: port of Torre Annunziata.
