About Morehead City Transient Docks
Morehead City Transient Docks This city facility was constructed around 2009. The docks are new with up-to-date electrical and water pedestals. Important Notes: the current runs in a crossing direction to the docks and at peak could be as much as 4 mph. First come, first served for up to 4 hours of daytime dockage, or pay for overnight. After Hours:Lee Everett, 252-725-5025, on call 24/7. Navigational Notes: Leave the ICW to the north and enter the channel between the mainland and Charted Sugar Loaf Island. Morehead City Transient Docks are on the mainland side. They are new, floating docks, perpendicular to the current, which can be 3 knots or more at ebb and flood. Try to arrive around slack water for easiest docking. Monitor currents and plan to arrive/depart around slack water for easiest access to slips, which are perpendicular to the currents. Current timing is about 1 1/2 hour after the tide. Important Notes: The current runs in a crossing direction to the docks and at peak could be as much as 4 mph. Be sure to arrive at slack tide!
