About Pensacola Marinas (Island Cove Marina)
Island Cove Marina was built in 1984 and was originally called the Bayou Chico Marina. The name Island Cove was devised from its geographic features. The marina lies in a half moon cove protected by land behind it which is over 20' above sea level. In the front of the marina it is sheltered by an Island not 300' off the end of the docks. After hurricane Ivan in 2004 Island Cove was the only marina in the area that was fully functional with electricity, water, and fuel sales. Island Cove supplied the Coast Guard and other emergency vessels fuel and dockage when no other marinas were left operational.
